From the moment we first stepped into 82 Courter Avenue, we knew it was special. Over the past eight years, our family has enjoyed this warm, inviting home and its vibrant neighborhood. Here are the top 14 reasons it has meant so much to us:

1. Our daily, easy walk to school with other children and parents from the block.

2. Soccer classes at Maplecrest Park, just one block away. That same park also housed our son’s dance class on the opposite side, which was super convenient.

3. Countless hours spent at the children’s library branch around the corner, and the concerts and other events at the Springfield Avenue gazebo.

4. The town’s farmer’s market next to the gazebo, providing us with fresh fruit on our walk home from school, June through November.

5. The welcoming neighbors of Courter Ave. Annual block parties bring everyone together—complete with hula hoop competitions and water balloon fights.

6. Halloween on Courter Avenue! Families share drinks and chat outside their beautifully lit porches while greeting trick-or-treaters.

7. The easy one-mile walk from Maplewood Village, the train station, and Memorial Park—all central hubs of activity in town.

8. The level and sizable backyard -perfect for games, sports, or a pool in the summer. The arborvitaes in back create a sense of privacy, while the lush vegetation along the sides add color and privacy

9. The truly eat-in kitchen. It’s the sunniest kitchen we saw during our house hunt (complete with a skylight!), and it quickly became the heart of our home.

10. AThe first floor powder room proved invaluable while potty-training our children.

11. We upgraded the wood-burning fireplace to a gas-burning one, making it so convenient that we started using it far more often, to the delight of our kids.

12. The chestnut-inlaid floors in the living room and the original wood-trimmed dining room with its original faux bois radiator covers. These details reflect the home’s rich history while still feeling cozy and welcoming.

13. The drainage system we upgraded has been excellent, protecting us from flooding even during the heaviest storms. We’ve lived here for eight years without any water issues—an enormous relief.

14. Springfield Avenue has seen significant improvement over the years, with new shops and community events popping up all the time. It’s wonderful to be at the heart of an area that just keeps getting better!
