Surprise Lake Camp

SLC offers a unique summer camp experience nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Our 360-acre campus, centered around a beautiful spring-fed lake, provides the perfect setting for campers to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. Through a variety of exciting activities, campers develop new skills, build confidence, and forge lasting friendships. SLC is committed to fostering a strong sense of Jewish identity and values. Our dedicated staff creates a warm and inclusive environment where campers can explore their Jewish heritage through engaging programs and traditions.     The health, safety, and emotional well-being of our campers are the top priority of every Surprise Lake Camp staff member. We hire carefully and train extensively so that each camper will get attentive, caring, skilled support all summer long. Our Camper Care Team includes a variety of mental health professionals, school counselors and caring adults. Personable and experienced, these specialists watch for and address any potential issues, from homesickness to social dynamics.
    SLC Health Center staff supports the physical wellbeing of our community. Our nursing staff is available 24/7 and meets the needs of campers requiring daily monitoring or medications. Our camp doctor has regular office hours and is on call the rest of the time. We have two health centers: a satellite health center on Teenside, and a fully equipped facility on Mainside, including a 20-bed overnight facility. Whenever needed, we can take campers out of camp for x-rays, lab work, or other procedures.
    SLC food is delicious, healthy, and kid-friendly, with lots of options. During breakfast, there is a breakfast bar with fresh fruit, an assortment of yogurts, and other healthy options. At lunch and dinner, we offer a salad bar and pasta station. Vegetarian options are always available, in addition to fresh fruit throughout the day. Our Kosher kitchen can accommodate most allergies and many special diets. We are a nut-aware facility. No peanut products are served in the dining halls.
