Dear Future Homeowners,
Our family has loved living at 6 Burnet Street. The town of Maplewood is extremely inclusive and family friendly and we’ve made many memories here. One thing that drew us to this house in particular was the close proximity to everything; Memorial Park is really beautiful. We love learning about all of the different trees that have been planted there and often (when it’s warm!) stop at the pond to watch the turtles sun-bathe on our way into town to grab a bite, pick something up from the store or on the way to the train station. Everything is within a 4 minute walk. There are so many community-building events held at the park and there is an all around festive feeling to the summers and holidays on Burnet Street. The 4th of July fireworks can be seen perfectly from our back deck and we have enjoyed the music from “Maplewoodstock” with a glass of wine in hand, right from our front porch. The neighbors here are fantastic and involved in the many family activities held at the park or in the village.
In a few short months, the newly renovated ($23+ Million renovation!) Maplewood Library (right across the street) will open. It will be a really exciting time for this community and this area. The plans so wonderfully incorporate the natural surroundings and much of the building will overlook Memorial Park from above. Having the Library right across the street is an additional example of how perfectly this house is situated to easily access so many of the intellectual, artistic and cultural interests held by our community.
Previous owners of the house took great care of the property as a whole and we have done our best to honor the home as well. There is a charm to this home that feels unique and
private. Since the house is on the market during the winter, you are in for some beautiful surprises as each of the next seasons roll in. The magnolia tree in the front yard is stunning
when in bloom. The Japanese Maple in the backyard turns the most brilliant red in autumn and the large oval area (looks like a “patchy grass” area) in the back is a swamp garden in
the spring, with lush, tall, colorful flowers and ornamental grass. The side of the house (along the driveway) has an herb garden and bright yellow daffodils, which used to only live
under the magnolia tree, but are now sprinkled throughout the front and back yards.
Our favorite room in the house has been the ‘library”. While most of the house is wonderfully bright and airy, the library has been more of a tranquil space to retreat to with a
book in hand, enjoyed in front of a blazing fire. We have played many rounds of “Clue” and “Monopoly” there as well and it is most often the room we gravitate to when we want to
spend some quality family time.
There are so many special things to share about 6 Burnet. We wish you the best in making it
your Home.
