Dear Future Home Buyer,
We fell in love with 646 Hamilton Rd in South Orange when we first walked through the door. The outside of the house is a charming white brick cottage with a slate roof, but it was the living room, with its high ceilings, crown moldings, fireplace and wall of windows streaming light into home that brought a huge smile to my face. We had found our new home.
This lovely home, with its many unique features, brings together the light filled windows of contemporary living with the old world charm of crown moldings and high ceilings. Having two large bedrooms on the first floor supported us to live primarily on one floor, while having the flexibility of a family room downstairs and several rooms upstairs devoted to hobbies and extra space. The home can be—and has been—used for many generations in many ways; as the live-work space we have or, as several prior owners have, to raise a family with children. We added many roses, peonies, mums and hydrangeas to the flowers that were already here. Spring brings a riot of blooming roses.
Adding a spa-like bathroom with a freestanding tub was the final addition we made to make this home even more comfortable.
We love Hamilton Road, a tree lined street that curves its way toward Centre Street. It is wonderfully quiet with regular sightings of birds, squirrels, and deer families. It has a peaceful feeling. The neighbors are friendly and helped orient us to the neighborhood and town when we first arrived and have been helpful as we have lived here.
The Village of South Orange is a lovely town with shops and restaurants. Along with its sister town, Maplewood, they comprise SOMA, a vibrant town with parks, music and performances at SOPAC, classes and sports at the Baird community center. The area has a vitality that we have enjoyed.
Access to NYC is easy, with both Mountain and South Orange train stations right in town.
We hope you love the house as much as we have, and that it brings you much joy and support in your lives.
Sincerely,
Current Homeowners
