Dear future homeowners,

From the moment we stepped into 40 Collinwood Road, after a year-long search to find our Brooklyn-based family a place in Maplewood, we knew that this was the home for us. We instantly loved the light that streamed through the windows, the generously-sized bedrooms that would give our children room to grow, the peaceful and lush backyard that would allow us to connect with nature from our own home. We couldn’t believe our good fortune in finding this dream of a house.

The past 11 years have proven the truth of those first impressions. During our early years here when our children were small, we would make art projects in the playroom, build forts in the basement, venture out daily to any of the 3 amazing playgrounds in walking distance. We hosted birthday parties in the backyard (often featuring epic water balloon fights), and several au pairs in the incredible den/bathroom suite downstairs that allowed us all to share the same
home and maintain privacy.

The adults have taken full advantage of the house too. We spend time nearly every day, every season on our back deck (thank you Solo Stove!). We love to watch the robins, bluejays and cardinals visit, we love trying to beat them to the blueberries that grow here. We have loved connecting with our incredible neighbors (July 4th block party anyone?). We have taken full advantage of the location, walking down to town for coffee or to catch the train, heading around
the corner to stroll through the adorable Ridgewood shopping row (vegan bakery, record store, vintage finds!) and walking right up to the South Mountain Reservation for trail running and daily dog park-ing. We have also come to appreciate the systems we have here; the solar panels, generator and sump-pump have given us a peace of mind we did not appreciate when we first moved in.

This house has grown beautifully with our family. The au pair suite has turned into a media den that has hosted countless movie nights and sleepovers. S’mores nights have replaced water balloon fights. Our incredible location has allowed the kids freedom to walk to middle school and town with friends. It has been a beautiful home for all of us and while we are very sad to say good-bye, we are also very excited to pass this incredible home over to a new family who we kno will fill these treasured rooms with their own love and memories.
