Welcome.
As you walk through these rooms today, you might be checking the floor plan, the finishes, the square footage… But we wanted to leave this note to tell you about the things you don’t see when you just visit for an open house.
We want to tell you about the Golf Island neighborhood, where not making friends is the hard part. We’ve hosted countless gatherings with friends who quickly became family in this house. It is a street so peaceful and rarely busy that it was the perfect, safe place to teach our kids how to ride their bikes. When autumn arrives, get ready because everyone wants to come to our street for Halloween. It is simply the best in town for trick-or-treating. And in the summer, you can sit right in your own backyard and watch the 4th of July fireworks light up the sky.
Inside the house, there is a beautiful, natural light that bathes the house all year long. The warmth of the original American chestnut woodwork throughout the rooms has been the absolute best backdrop for all the silly pictures of our kids growing up. You will likely find that when your children have friends over, they will refuse to leave, begging for just “five extra minutes” on the front porch swing.
Over the years, we’ve made thoughtful changes to make this home as comfortable as possible to live in. We added a first-floor powder room for convenience, and installed a whole-house humidifier so the kids wouldn’t get stuffy noses during the colder months. But the comfort is just a part of the whole experience. The big island we planned for the kitchen became the heart of the house. The door connecting the kitchen to the backyard made ‘Should I just grill this outside?’ our most-used phrase on summer nights.
From the entrance, even the custom-made transom on the front door (crafted from original house wood) speaks to the love we poured into every single detail. We have loved every minute of our time here. We really hope this house brings you as much joy, laughter, and love as it has brought us.
Welcome home.
Warmly,
The Alcons
