Dear Future Owners,

We would like to offer our insight and experience in choosing 24 Bailey Road, which we affectionately simply call Bailey. 

Bailey stands out as first a fantastic example of a well-detailed Tudor that has immediate curb appeal as you drive up to her. She has charm and is never boring to look at from any angle. This was our initial impression as we stood there that fateful day in May. We were looking in the Upper Wyoming section of Millburn mostly because of the quality of the schools, proximity to the elementary school which one of us attended and absolutely loved, and we would also be near family.

Once you walk through the original heavy wood door, Bailey’s interior presence speaks volumes of her rich history—the textured walls, stone fireplace, and walnut floors. She was meticulously maintained by the owners before us and we have continued that tradition. The one thing to note is the natural light—she has windows in all the right places and most of the time we do not even need to turn on the lights.  However, even with all that light, you will notice we did not install many window treatments on the first floor. We did not need to, the light is perfect all day long.

As you round the corner into the family room and kitchen, this is where we spend most of our time. The kids eat most meals at the breakfast bar., which allows comfortable chit-chat about their day as the evening meal or school lunches are prepared. Everything is perfectly laid out. We cannot take credit for the kitchen but we can say no detail was overlooked. As such, Bailey quickly became the holiday hotspot as it was so easy to prepare huge family feasts even accommodating multiple chefs. We have simply never been in a better kitchen.

The next thing that impressed us was something that did not make itself known right away. Yes, the layout is excellent, but there is far more. As you walk through take notice of how little unused space there is in the whole house. Everything is easily accessible, and it flows. We have been in plenty of houses where we look at a room and wonder what to do with it. So you put in a few chairs maybe a potted plant and hardly every go in there again. This is not that kind of house. You will naturally want to visit her corners, move around, but it’s not something you might pick up on during an initial walk through.

The outdoor space, just as Bailey herself is sculpted—with rolling hills, tiered brickwork and bluestone patio. The grounds and landscaping is perfectly proportioned. Having a private gate for the kids to go run in Slayton Field is a terrific bonus.
