205 Vose Avenue has been a truly spectacular place for our family to grow and thrive.
Our location – being so close to town and schools – has been invaluable to both our children and us. We take daily walks, scooter rides and bike rides into town, visiting the duck pond, tennis courts, library, baseball fields, and the South Orange community pool. We’ve loved being a stone’s throw from Meadowland Park, which hosts outdoor concerts and performances and is also home to Flood’s Hill, the best sledding hill in SOMA. It’s also a joy to take a quick family walk to dinner in town, visiting The Order or Miti Miti, two of the area’s most delicious casual dining spots.
We can easily jump on a train into the city, thanks to a 5 minute walk to South Orange Station (or a 10 minute stroll to Mountain Station). We’ve loved our ability to quickly access South Mountain Reservation as well, enjoying frequent family hikes, jogs and swimming at the beautiful falls.
Our large yard, deck and front porch have made warmer days truly idyllic, with frequent barbeques, outdoor dining, dusk firefly catching, lunches up in the play fort, and gardening projects galore. The open basement has allowed us all room to stretch out, giving our children the space they crave for creative and imaginative play, particularly in the winter months. The fireplace has been another favorite gathering spot, providing cozy nights snuggled up watching a favorite family show. Finally, our 3rd floor guest room has felt like such a special, private space to host family and friends.
We’ve also been lucky enough to be nurtured by our neighbors in this diverse, progressive community from the moment we arrived. There are many families with young children on Vose Ave, all of whom have become close friends. We enjoy spontaneous backyard playdates, birthday barbeques and outdoor community dinners.
We hope you find the house and neighborhood as charming as we have and enjoy everything that South Orange has to offer.
